We call it Vendor Managed Product Data.

ToolLink is software as a service for manufacturing companies
in need of digital twins of cutting tools
with requirements that go beyond what ToolsUnited may provide.

ToolLink allows suppliers of any size to add or update data directly on demand, without sending an unlimited amount of Excel sheets back and forth.
One single communication channel based on harmonized standards between you and your suppliers will ease the data supply.

See how it works:

Set up your ToolLink portal

ToolLink is your Supplier Portal. CIMSOURCE sets it up for you, including branding. Add your suppliers contact information. Use the message editor to prepare for automated email communication. Inform your suppliers about this new and direct communcation channel.

Specify data requirements and cross check

Upload the item numbers you are looking for in ToolLink. The item list will automatically be cross-referenced with the content of ToolsUnited. As ToolLink pulls the data from ToolsUnited a data check will be executed based on selected rule system. Missing items or missing properties will be indicated.

Issue data request & monitor
data delivery

You send a request via ToolLink to each supplier that needs to fill in missing items or properties. The workflow engine helps the user to monitor the delivery process.

Give your suppliers time to react

Each supplier subject to your ToolLink request has to log onto your ToolLink. Suppliers have two options to provide the required data. Either interactively via the ToolLink user interface or via bulk data upload using Excel or XML.

ToolLink will guide your suppliers in case they are not familiar with DIN or ISO standards.

Data aquisition using ToolLink is a team effort.

The cooperation of your suppliers is critical to success.

Why would suppliers cooperate?

1) All you’re asking for is standard data in DIN /ISO and suppliers receive precisely specified requests. No endless asking back and forth!

2) Suppliers may keep and maintain the data for themselves. Service to you is no waste of time.

3) Data prepared for ToolLink may be imported to various CAM- and toolmanagement systems. Service to you is valued added work.

That is fair sourcing based on standards!

Frequently Asked Questions

ToolLink will try to find a corresponding item on ToolsUnited for each of your customer’s items. If one is found, the data is immediately copied to your ToolLink database and checked for compliance with the rules. If no item is found with your request, the supplier has to enter all data for the tool completely. So, it is a big advantage if the supplier is already listed on ToolsUnited.

No. ToolLink has its own database and only you and your suppliers have access to this data. We do not use the data – unless the supplier wants us to. The suppliers always have 100% control over how CIMSOURCE GmbH may uses their data.

The data collected via ToolLink is always for you, a single customer of the supplier. You have a contract with your supplier, which should specify whether and to what extent data is to be supplied for your tools. We, the CIMSOURCE, have developed ToolLink to facilitate the communication and exchange of tool data for you and your suppliers.

Yes, each customer has his own portal with his own database, so you have to create a separate access to each portal. However, if you are using a SalesSupport Server, you can use the ToolLink extension to process all ToolLink requests from your customers in a bundle.
